Retail Rollercoaster: Fashion to Figure Closes Shops, White House Black Market Adds Plus Size Line
Given the dismal reality of retail lately, apparel businesses are doing everything it can to stay relevant. One retailer has decided to close some of its stores, while another has added plus sizes to its line.
East Coast plus size retailer Fashion to Figure announced this week that it will close 10 of its 26 stores in 2018. The closings are due to an investment where the retailer expanded into shopping malls, which are struggling to stay open in an ever-increasing ecommerce world.
National womens retail store White House Black Market announced this week that it will now carry plus sizes online only. Extended to size 24W, the apparel line is limited to just 60 pieces, a fraction of WHBM's entire collection.
